At the University of Mosul, Humanitarian Values Shine Through the “Silat wa Rahim” Initiative

 

Reflecting its vision of social responsibility and commitment to sustainable development, the University of Mosul launched a humanitarian initiative titled “Silat wa Rahim” (Kinship and ties) through its Medical Research and Treatment Centers, targeting cancer patients in the Oncology Department.

The initiative took place on Monday, March 30, 2026, bringing together a meaningful balance between community responsibility and service delivery to various segments of society, particularly cancer patients. The event was attended by Assist. Prof. Dr. Rafal Hasan Hamed, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, representing the university presidency led by Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi.

During the visit, the university reaffirmed its continuous support for patients in overcoming pain and hardship, while also providing medical care and humanitarian assistance. Symbolic gifts were presented to the patients as a gesture reflecting the university’s deep commitment to being not only a center of knowledge but also a source of genuine compassion and humanity.

In turn, the patients expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the university for this kind initiative, wishing it continued progress and success in its academic and humanitarian mission.
