University of Mosul and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)… A Cultural Partnership Promoting the Message of Global Peace

Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iraq, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jassim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs. The delegation included Mr. Tibi Tsurubotchi from the Local Management Unit (LMU), Ms. Bzhar Qani, Senior Project Assistant, and Mr. Hoshyar Hasan from the Local Management Unit.
The University President commended the Programme’s efforts in supporting the reconstruction of University of Mosul buildings that were destroyed by the terrorist organization ISIS.
The meeting also discussed establishing cultural cooperation with the Japanese side, including a joint art exhibition between the University of Mosul and the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The exhibition would reflect the impacts of war and, through art, promote peace and peaceful coexistence around the world. It is planned to be held simultaneously at the University of Mosul and in Hiroshima.
The delegation also visited the building of the Electronic Computing Center, which was set on fire during the period of occupation by the terrorist ISIS . The possibility of the Programme contributing to its reconstruction and rehabilitation was discussed.
