Lecturer Dr. Ihsan Fasih Hasan has published a scientific research paper entitled:

“Comparison of Temperature-Based PET Methods and Their Impact on SPEI and RDI for Drought Assessment in Nineveh, Iraq”

in the journal Water Resources Management, which is classified as Q1 in Clarivate and Scopus, with an Impact Factor of 5.7 and a CiteScore of 9.3.

The study compared methods for calculating potential evapotranspiration (PET) and examined their impact on the SPEI and RDI drought indices, based on data collected from five meteorological stations over a period of 41 years.

The findings showed that SPEI_BC and RDI_BC performed better across most stations and timescales, providing a practical foundation for selecting more reliable methods for drought assessment in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly in northern Iraq.
