A Sustainable Humanitarian Approach … College of Engineering at University of Mosul Creates an Inclusive Campus Environment for People with Disabilities

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance an inclusive university environment, College of Engineering – University of Mosul highlights the steps it has taken to prepare facilities and service areas dedicated to people with disabilities. These efforts were carried out under the direct supervision of Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon, in accordance with international standards for inclusive academic environments.

Designated parking spaces for people with disabilities have been allocated, along with accessible entrances and adapted restrooms, all contributing to a sense of belonging and equality within the academic campus.

These initiatives fall within the College’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities). They also directly support indicator S1 of the global GreenMetric ranking by promoting values of justice and social equity within the university environment.

Through these efforts, the College reaffirms its dedication to implementing comprehensive sustainability principles—not only in infrastructure but also through daily academic policies and practices that prioritize human dignity and inclusion.
