The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul organized today a panel discussion titled “Utilizing Industrial Waste to Enhance Environmental Solutions,” delivered by Riyadh Mahmoud Saleh, with the participation of researchers and specialists in environmental fields.
The discussion addressed the importance of managing industrial waste using modern scientific approaches and transforming it into reusable materials or alternative energy sources, contributing to reducing environmental damage and achieving sustainability. The speaker also reviewed the main types of industrial waste and methods of treatment, including recycling and physical and chemical processing, in addition to presenting successful international experiences in this field.
The session further highlighted the key challenges facing this sector, such as limited infrastructure, low environmental awareness, and the need for supportive legislation, while emphasizing the role of academic institutions in providing research-based solutions and strengthening collaboration with industrial sectors.
