Outstanding Achievement of Petroleum and Mining Engineering Students in the First Scientific Debate

Under the patronage of the President of University of Mosul, Professor Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jassim, the scientific competition was organized by Thakaa Company in cooperation with the Science and Technology Parks Department at the University Presidency and the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. The event was held on Thursday, 26 February 2026, at the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall.

This activity comes within the University’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by enhancing the quality of education, promoting academic excellence, and developing students’ scientific and cultural skills.

The competition witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of students from the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. The college team engaged in a strong scientific debate against the College of Engineering team and succeeded in winning the first stage of the competition, advancing with a margin exceeding one thousand points—an achievement that reflects the high academic standards and excellence of the college’s students.

The competition consisted of three main rounds, each including fifteen (15) questions that varied between specialized scientific topics and general knowledge. This structure provided an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their cognitive abilities, quick thinking, and teamwork skills.

This victory reaffirms the University’s commitment to supporting scientific activities and fostering a constructive academic competitive environment, contributing to the preparation of qualified scientific cadres capable of effectively serving society and advancing sustainable development.
