Afforestation is a Sustainable National Responsibility

On the occasion of the National Afforestation Day, the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering participated in the national tree-planting campaign organized to promote environmental awareness and increase green spaces within the university campus.
This initiative was carried out under the direct supervision and participation of the Dean of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Ma’an Hassan Al-Majid, with the involvement of a number of the college’s faculty members, staff, and students. During the campaign, several seedlings and trees were planted as a step aimed at supporting the university environment and improving the aesthetic appearance of the educational institution.
This initiative comes as part of the college’s commitment to promoting a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility, encouraging everyone to actively contribute to protecting the environment and preserving natural resources, as well as supporting national efforts aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
Moreover, this participation reflects the college’s dedication to supporting environmental initiatives that contribute to providing a healthy and sustainable university environment. It is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 15: Life on Land, through expanding green spaces and preserving environmental biodiversity.
