College Council Meeting

The Council of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering convened on Monday, April 20, 2026, chaired by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ma’an Hassan Al-Majid, and attended by the esteemed members of the Council.
During the meeting, several important academic and administrative topics were discussed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of publishing scientific research in Q1 journals, given their significant role in enhancing the academic ranking of both the College and the University. The Council also reviewed the progress made in fulfilling program accreditation requirements and stressed the need to prepare the academic environment in accordance with approved standards.
The meeting also addressed the topic of publishing in the College’s Oil and Mining Journal, in addition to discussing the activation and use of the (RIS) platform, which contributes to the organization and management of scientific and research outputs.
Furthermore, the Council discussed a number of matters related to the academic staff, including improving academic performance, maintaining academic integrity, and enhancing research activities. It also reviewed faculty needs and emphasized supporting their participation in conferences and scientific workshops.
On the administrative side, the Council discussed mechanisms to improve administrative performance, organize workflow among divisions and units, and simplify procedures to achieve greater efficiency in service delivery. It also reaffirmed the importance of adherence to official working hours and ministerial regulations.
The Council also reviewed the preparations for University Day, highlighting the importance of coordination between academic departments and administrative units to ensure well-organized events that reflect the College’s academic standing.
At the conclusion of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of teamwork to achieve the desired academic and institutional goals.
