Petroleum and Mining Engineering Students – University of Mosul on a Field Visit to the ZPEC-20 Drilling Rig of Schlumberger (SLB) at the Zubair Oil Field

A group of our distinguished students from the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering – University of Mosul, along with a select group of petroleum engineering students from various provinces of Iraq, and as part of the activities of the STARTUP Exchange Program – Season Three, continued their field training tour, where the third group headed to the Zubair oil field in Basra Governorate to visit the ZPEC-20 drilling rig operated by Schlumberger (SLB), in coordination with the Zubair Operating Directorate.

This visit comes as part of a comprehensive training program aimed at enabling university youth to gain direct practical experience, learn closely about the latest drilling technologies and safety procedures applied in real work environments, as well as providing the opportunity to interact with distinguished technical and engineering staff in the field.

The program, organized by Mishwar Foundation for Training and Development in cooperation with the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Petroleum Division / Nineveh Branch, includes intensive training activities extending over a full month, combining academic and practical aspects. It works on developing students’ leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, thereby enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market.

Special thanks and appreciation go to the Director General of Basra Oil Company and the staff of the Zubair Operating Directorate for their continuous support and facilitation of this unique educational experience that contributes to building a qualified generation capable of competing in the oil and energy sector.
