College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering

The College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering – University of Mosul held its fifth council meeting for the academic year 2025 on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ma’n Hassan Abdullah Al-Majid, Dean of the College, and attended by the assistant deans and heads of academic departments.

The council approved the following directions and decisions:

• Evening Studies: Completion of all requirements for opening the program, ensuring readiness of classrooms, infrastructure, and staff, and organizing schedules and administrative tasks.
• Iraqi Science Day Awards & Related Committees: Approval of nomination and documentation mechanisms, formation of follow-up committees, and support for the “Bridge of Mercy” initiative to enhance community responsibility.
• College Journal & Scientific Publishing: Follow-up on editorial and peer-review processes, emphasizing publication in Scopus-indexed journals (Q1–Q2) and raising citation rates.
• Scientific Conference & Date Adjustment: Rescheduling the conference date, updating the timeline and themes, and informing relevant parties.
• Publishing Policies & Research Indicators: Adoption of a plan to improve research output quality and strengthen its links to industrial and service applications.

At the end of the meeting, the Dean instructed all units to adhere to the approved timelines for implementing the decisions, in support of academic and research performance quality and to strengthen the college’s role in serving the community.
