Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul and the supervision of the Deanship of the College: A training workshop on “Women and Swimming” at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the esteemed President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nibras Younis Muhammad Al-Murad, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college organized a training workshop entitled: “Women and Swimming” on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The workshop was moderated by:
Professor Dr. Safaa Thanoon Ismail (Session Lecturer)
Assistant Professor Nabaa Ghazi Faisal (Session Rapporteur)
The workshop addressed the importance of empowering women in sports, particularly in swimming, by highlighting societal and cultural challenges and ways to enhance women’s participation in physical and sports activities.
The workshop aimed to support and achieve several Sustainable Development Goals, most notably:
Goal 3: Good health and well-being – by promoting physical activity as a means of improving women’s overall health
Goal 5: Gender equality – by enabling women to have equal access to sporting opportunities
Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities – by enhancing quality of life through sport and community activities
