College Briefly
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is one of the colleges of the University of Mosul. It was established in 1977 for the purpose of providing specialized cadres in physical education. The number of students accepted in its first session was 48 male and female students. The duration of study is 4 years, after which the student obtains a bachelor’s degree in physical education.
Since its establishment, the college has begun to develop and grow on all levels until it reached what it is now, as it includes several buildings, indoor halls, playgrounds, an indoor swimming pool, and halls for physical fitness and physiology. It also included development in scientific aspects, especially postgraduate studies, as the first course was accepted to obtain a master’s degree in the academic year 1987/1988 with (8) students, and in the academic year 1992/1993 the first course was accepted to obtain a doctorate degree with two students. The college is also keen to develop similar colleges in the Arab world, as it has sent many of its instructors to teach in Libyan, Yemeni, Jordanian, Syrian and Algerian universities. Its instructors have also participated in many Arab and continental scientific conferences, training courses and workshops.
