Regional Studies Center Hosts Seminar on Intellectual Property in the Age of AI and Digital Transformation

Regional Studies Center / Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, held a seminar on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, titled “Intellectual Property in Light of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence.” The event aimed to highlight the legal and cognitive challenges posed by modern technologies and to raise awareness about the importance of protecting creativity and innovation in the digital environment.

The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim and Professor Dr. Saddam Mohammed, who addressed the concepts and dimensions of intellectual property in the age of artificial intelligence. They reviewed key issues related to copyright, innovation, software, and data, while also discussing the impact of digital transformation on reshaping legal and regulatory frameworks and the need to develop legislation that keeps pace with these advancements. The seminar witnessed active engagement from attendees, whose interventions focused on practical challenges faced by academic and research institutions.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of promoting a culture of intellectual property and linking it to sustainable development, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Participants stressed the need for greater integration between academic and legislative institutions to ensure a secure and innovation-driven digital environment.
