Remote Sensing Center Organizes a Workshop on Implementing National Security Strategies

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the direct supervision of the Director of the Remote Sensing Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Ramzi Qaba, the Remote Sensing Center, in cooperation with representatives of the National Security Apparatus / University Security Center – Nineveh, organized a workshop entitled “Building National Capacities for the Implementation of the National Security Strategy” on Wednesday, 22 January 2026.

The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of the key components of the National Security Strategy and to clarify mechanisms for its implementation at the institutional level. It also sought to develop national capacities in the fields of strategic planning, policy formulation, and coordination between academic and security institutions.

The workshop included several thematic sessions focusing on the concept of comprehensive national security, the role of universities and research centers in supporting the national strategy, and the discussion of ways to employ scientific research and academic outputs in serving national security requirements and promoting societal stability.

The event was attended by a number of academics, researchers, staff members, as well as specialists and representatives from the National Security Apparatus. The workshop provided an opportunity for the exchange of views and expertise and for presenting practical perspectives that contribute to strengthening institutional integration between the academic and security sectors.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the speakers emphasized the importance of continuing joint cooperation between universities and security institutions, and the necessity of sustaining the organization of such specialized workshops due to their effective role in building national capacities and supporting the implementation of the National Security Strategy.

This activity comes within the contributions of the University of Mosul toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 16), which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
