Remote Sensing Center Participates in a Master’s Thesis Defense at Tikrit University

As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and the advancement of scientific research, the Remote Sensing Center participated in the defense of a Master’s thesis at the Department of Applied Earth Sciences, College of Science, Tikrit University, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The defense committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Fawzi Omar, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Engineering Sciences at the Remote Sensing Center.
The thesis, submitted by Mudhar Mohammed Fathi Omar Al-Jawari, was entitled: “Delineation of Groundwater Potential Zones in the Bardarash Valley Basin, Northern Iraq, Based on Groundwater Potential, Groundwater Quality Index, and Artificial Intelligence Techniques.”
The research employed Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques to develop an integrated spatial model that simultaneously evaluates groundwater quantity and quality for identifying promising groundwater potential zones within the Bardarash Valley Basin. The study provides valuable support for evidence-based planning and the sustainable management of groundwater resources in semi-arid environments.
This participation reflects the active role of the Remote Sensing Center’s academic staff in postgraduate examination committees and scientific activities, reaffirming the Center’s commitment to advancing scientific research, promoting the application of geospatial technologies in addressing environmental and natural resource challenges, and strengthening academic collaboration among Iraqi universities.
