Prof. Dr. Zahraa Muhammad Ali Hammoudat, an instructor in the Department of Chemistry at our college, published a research paper in “The Ukrainian Biochemical Journal”, which is one of the most respected international journals within Scopus’ containers. Scientific research which was entitled: “Properties of alpha-L-fucosidase (FUCA) for serum of patients with hepatocellular cancer and cytotoxicity on some cancer cell lines” A study of the properties of alpha-L-fucosidease enzyme in the serum of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and the cytotoxicity of some cancer cell lines. The results of the research study proved that alpha-L-fucosidease (FUCA) purified from the serum of liver cancer patients has a more toxic effect on the hepatocyte line HepG2 and a less toxic effect on the cells of the prostate cancer line PC3 when comparing its effect with the normal hepatocyte line WRL- 68. . The study concluded that the enzyme purified from the serum of hepatocellular carcinoma patients has a more toxic effect on the liver cancer cell line than on the prostate cancer line, and that it can be used in cancer studies such as the effect and control of anti-liver cancer drugs.
