A scientific workshop entitled “Civil Waste and its Use”
Under Miss of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Al-Taii, under the supervision of the Head of the New and Renewable Energies Department. Assistant professor Dr. Asim Ahmed Issa, the Department of New and Renewable Energies in our college held its scientific workshop entitled “Civil Waste and Benefiting from It”, with lectures alternating between Dr. Hamed Abdullah Saleh and Dr. Saad Fadel Mahmoud. The workshop included a slogan entitled (Make the waste of others a wealth for you), and it dealt with the classification of civil waste according to its types and sources, including domestic, industrial, forest and farm waste, in addition to municipal waste. As for the treatment methods, they differ according to their source and include burning, gasification, fermentation, anaerobic digestion, aerobic digestion, thermal cracking, and for each of these methods there are different products of economic value. Thus, civil waste is disposed of by environmentally friendly methods, and useless waste is converted into products with economic returns. The workshop was attended by the department’s lecturers, in addition to a number of graduate students in the College of Environmental Sciences and Technologies.
