Under the auspices of the president of Mosul University, Prof. Dr. Kossay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmady and the dean of the faculty of science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Al-Taii, and within the activities of continuing education in our college, the department of life physics held an electronic scientific course entitled ((modern techniques used in medical treatment and diagnosis)) for the period 19-21 april 2022, attended by Assistant prof Rafid Ahmed Abdullah, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohammed Fakhri and lecturer Shaima Talal Atallah.The course included what radiation therapy is, what is the purpose of radiation therapy, what type of tumor treats radiation, and what are the side effects of the exposure arranged on it.the course then touched on one of the modern techniques for the treatment of tumors using radiation (volumetric embedding technique) because of the advantages of this technique in terms of reducing the effect of radiation on the vicinity and surrounding the tumor and reducing the duration of treatment to about two minutes instead of 20 minutes and increasing the accuracy of radiation therapy according to the treatment plan.the course also addressed the most important modern medical applications used in the diagnosis and medical treatment, such as the treatment of certain diseases such as cancer and its laser treatment strategy and modern methods of treating refractive defects using femto and laser fluids, and also addressed the treatment of some diseases of the mouth and teeth with low-capacity lasers for the purpose of reducing pain and speed of recovery.
