On 29th October, 2023, the department of Chemistry had a session of PhD examination. A doctoral thesis entitled “Isolation of the Enzyme Cyclooxygenase-2 from Bladder Cancer Patients’’submitted by the researcher ‘Mohammed Hussein Musa Hamad Al-Jumaili. The thesis dealt with estimating the levels of biochemical variables for bladder cancer patients and studying the influence of smoking, age and gender factors in these variables in bladder cancer patients.
The study also included the isolation and purification of the cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme from the blood serum of bladder cancer patients and the study of its properties. It also included the extraction of natural products of the seeds of the palm plant and the diagnosis of the active compounds in these products the study of the effect of these products on the effectiveness of the human cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme.
