Dr. Mona Hussein Jankir and PhD student Ali Maan Al-Sultan have registered a new genetic variant of the Placental Growth Factor (PGF) gene in the NCBI database. This gene plays a crucial role in pregnancy, particularly in preeclampsia, by supporting placental blood vessel formation. Their discovery highlights a key genetic factor contributing to undiagnosed preeclampsia cases in Mosul.
