Faculty Member from the College of Science Participates in an International Workshop on Sustainable Agriculture

Asst. Prof. Dr. Wasan Saleh Hussein, faculty member at the Department of Biology, College of Science – University of Mosul, participated in the international workshop organized by the Northern Technical University in collaboration with several Arab and international universities. The workshop was held virtually from August 18–19, 2025, under the title:
“The Role of Modern Technologies in Increasing Plant Production under Sustainable Agriculture… Between Reality and Aspiration.”

During the workshop, Dr. Wasan delivered a scientific lecture entitled:
“Soilless Agriculture and Intensive Production Technologies: Modern Innovations to Meet Food Needs,”
in which she highlighted the role of modern agricultural technologies in improving production efficiency, addressing environmental challenges, and ensuring resource sustainability.

This participation comes within the framework of supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically:

  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger – through innovations that contribute to achieving food security.

  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – by promoting practices that reduce waste and conserve natural resources.

  • Goal 13: Climate Action – by adopting eco-friendly technologies that mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Thus, the workshop embodied the integration between scientific research and sustainable development, strengthening food security and keeping pace with future needs.
