Under the patronage of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and under the supervision and follow-up of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim al-Taie, the Department of medical physics at the College of science organized a training course entitled (The scourge of digital drugs), on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the seminar hall in the Department.

The course was supervised by L. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohamed Fakhri and L. Dr. It lasted five days, during which important scientific and awareness-raising topics were discussed about the concept of digital drugs, the mechanism of action of audio files and the binary pulses used in them, as well as the introduction of websites that promote and sell these files under misleading therapeutic names and far from legal control.

The course also included a detailed explanation of the types of sound frequencies used in the preparation of these files, their various effects on the brain in terms of stimulation or nervous inhibition, in addition to the statement of biological and psychological repercussions on the human body, and the socio-economic implications of the spread of this phenomenon in society.

The session witnessed extensive discussions on the reasons that motivate the youth and adolescents to use digital drugs, and appropriate prevention and treatment methods were discussed to reduce their spread and raise awareness of their risks.

At the end of the course, the leaders stressed the importance of community and academic cooperation to confront this new phenomenon and spread awareness among students and various segments of society.
