Workshop on ” promoting environmental sustainability in the field of health by reducing medical waste and improving resource management”

Under the patronage of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and under the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Department of Chemistry concluded on Wednesday morning, 3/12/2025, the activities of the scientific workshop, which came within the activities of continuing education in the Department.
The workshop touched on the topic ” enhancing environmental sustainability in the field of health through reducing medical waste and improving resource management” by reviewing the impact of medical and bio-chemical waste, which is one of the most dangerous types of waste on the environment and public health, due to its content of pollutants, infectious substances and chemicals that may lead to epidemics and serious diseases if not handled in the right way, as the treatment of environmentally friendly medical waste has gradually become a fundamental trend in the health care industry, sustainable health care has become an urgent necessity in the current era, and the role of hospitals and laboratories is no longer limited to providing treatment to patients, but extended to the responsibility of Preserving the environment and reducing its negative impact on it. From Here Comes the importance of turning hospitals into green hospitals, an initiative that aims to integrate sustainability principles into all aspects of the hospital’s work
