Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow – up of the head of the Criminal Evidence Department, Assistant Prof. Dr. Haitham Luqman Shahab, and within the continuing education programs, a scientific course entitled” The impact of smoking on the biological effectiveness of sperm ” for the period November 30-December 4, 2025, delivered by Prof. Dr. Major Salim Al-Safar and L. Dr. By Ali Kazim and L. Dr. It was attended by a number of teachers and students of the Department.

The course dealt with several aspects of the harms of smoking, and included:

The first day: an introduction to the effects of smoking of various types (smoking cigarettes, cigarettes and e-cigarettes) on the vitality of the male reproductive system and its relationship with oxidative stress.

The second day: a simplified explanation about the male genetic cells and includes the shape and deformations.

The third day: the effectiveness of spermatogenesis, types of motility of spermatozoa and the effect of smoking on the DNA of the male gene cell.

The fourth day: includes the practical side and conducting tests.

This course is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, as it includes the third goal (good health) and the fourth goal (quality education) of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our wishes are for our teaching to be full-time and creative in order to enrich science and benefit it in a way that preserves life, protects society, and maintains health and interest in it among community members.
