The College of science organizes the environment and sustainable development forum to promote a culture of community peace

Because the preservation of life is an integral part of the concept of World Peace, The Forum “environment and sustainable development and its role in building peace” was held at the College of science
Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and the supervision of the dean of the College of science, professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, in cooperation with the Rizan Organization for development and development, and with the knowledge and presence of the members of the Faculty Council, the forum “Environment Sustainable Development and its role in building peace” at my city hall in Mosul.
The activities of the forum began with a speech by Mrs. Dean, who stressed the importance of promoting a culture of environmental sustainability within academic institutions, and supporting green initiatives that contribute to protecting the environment and promoting community peace.
He also taught at Assistant L. Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed gave a scientific lecture on the most prominent current environmental challenges in Mosul, the effects of climate change on Natural Resources and the environmental reality of the city.
The events also included visual presentations of the Green Environmental women mediators project, in addition to an awareness video about one of the sources of pollution in the Tigris River in order to shed light on existing environmental problems, followed by a dialogue session entitled “conflicts and conflicts and their relationship to climate change” with the participation of a group of specialists and experts, namely Mr. Director of the Center for peace building and peaceful coexistence / University of Mosul, Dr. Fathi Mohammed Fakhri Al-Jalili, expert and consultant in the field of environmental security and Climate Risk Management, Mr. Mohammed Ali Ismail al-Zaidi, and environmental activist in the field of climate action and environmental sustainability, Mr. Bassam Al-Obeidi.
The session discussed the relationship between climate change and the increasing crises and conflicts, and the importance of adopting effective environmental policies that enhance societal stability.
At the end of the forum, the recommendations were read and the participants were honored, in addition to the opening of booths of environmental solutions initiatives that presented various projects to support sustainability in the city of Mosul.
The College of Sciences appreciates the efforts of the participants and attendees and affirms its firm commitment to supporting scientific and environmental activities aimed at building a conscious and cohesive society, capable of facing future environmental challenges, in addition to strengthening partnerships that contribute to building a prosperous and sustainable society, in line with the University’s vision of community service and development.
