Discussion of the master’s thesis in the Department of Chemistry at the College of science

The master’s thesis submitted by the student (Nancy Naamat Boutros fattouhi) and tagged “preparation, diagnosis and study of molecular docking of some heterocyclic pentacyclic compounds derived from 5-bromoindole” was discussed in the chemistry department at the College of Sciences today, Monday, December 15, 2025, in the presence of the dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the administrative and Scientific Assistants of the dean, and the head of the Chemistry Department, Assistant Professor Dr. The Honorable Firas Ahmed dhanoon and a number of the best teachers of the college.
The discussion committee consisted of Mr. Prof. Dr. Shaker Mahmoud Saeed from Al Noor University (President), and Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul Sattar Ibrahim (member), Dr. Tahani Walid jihad Yacoub (member) and Prof. Dr. Salem Jassim Mohammed Saleh (member and supervisor).
The message dealt with the use of 5-bromoindole compound to prepare a series of heterocyclic five-ring heterocyclic compounds with multiple uses the compound 3-(5-Bromo-1H-indol-1-yl)-3-oxopropanenitrile was prepared through the reaction of 5-bromoindole with ethyl cyanoacetate, and the adoption of this compound as a starting material for the distinctive functional aggregates it contains, and then introduced it into new reactions and in various ways to produce a number of cyclic compounds other than five-ring homologues.
The dissertation also included the study of molecular docking of all prepared compounds, and then hypothetically evaluate their life-long effectiveness against models of lung cancer cells, with the aim of exploring their ability to bind to disease-related bioreceptors.
The dean of the College of science, professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Shaker Mahmoud said for chairing the student discussion Committee.
Congratulations to the outstanding student for this achievement and wishes our students success and reaching the highest ranks of Science and giving.
