Discussing his doctoral thesis in the Department of Biology sciences at the College of science

The Department of Biology sciences at the College of Sciences discussed today, Monday, December 15, 2025, the doctoral thesis submitted by the student (Akhlas Ramadan Matar) and tagged “phenotypic and molecular investigation of some types of Colibactin toxin-producing germs and the study of its physiological characteristics from patients with stomach and colon cancer”, in the presence of the dean of the college, the esteemed Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the administrative and scientific Biology sciences professor Dr. Amjad Abdul Hadi and a number of the college’s best teachers.

The discussion committee consisted of Gentlemen:

Mrs. dean of the college Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim (chairman) and Prof. Dr. Ziyad zannoun Daoud (member) and Prof. Dr. Ryan Mazen (member) and a. L. Dr. Alaa Yunus Mahdi from the northern Technical University (member) and Assistant L. Dr. Enas Abdel Moneim tonight (member) and Prof. Dr. Amira Mahmoud Al-Rawi (member and supervisor)and Assistant L. Dr. Alaa Hussein Taha al-Mawla (member and supervisor).

The thesis dealt with the collection of biopsy samples from colorectal cancer and stomach cancer patients from several hospitals in Mosul and their diagnosis based on phenotypic and molecular methods, and the investigation of clbB,clbA,clbN,clbQ genes using PCR technology.9 isolates were recorded for the first time in the global GenBank within NCBI. The effect of the PKS + strain IAA PV628355 Echeriachia fergusonii strain and the E strain was studied. coli pks-on the gene expression of some programmed death genes (P53,BAX2,Bcl2,Caspase3) in a human HEC-6 intestinal cell line.

Finally, the dean of the college presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to assistant professor Dr. Alaa Younis Mahdi from the northern Technical University/Medical Technical Institute for his efforts in the discussion.
