The College of science organizes a training course on ” practical applications of the use of bacteria in sustainable development”

Under the patronage of the president of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and the guidance and follow-up of the dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohammed Fakhri, head of the Department of medical physics, the Department of medical physics organized a training course entitled ” practical applications of the use of bacteria in sustainable development ” .
The course was held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 in the Seminar Hall of the department, and was supervised by L. Dr. Samia Adnan Saleh Mohammed and L. Raghd Riad Shafiq, lasted for five days.
The course touched on the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations, and showed how to employ bacteria to benefit from their metabolic activity in the food industry and the production of health-supporting substances such as vitamins and antibiotics. It also addressed the possibilities of employing bacteria to achieve environmental sustainability through analytical processes and the production of clean energy, in addition to promoting sustainability in plant and animal wealth.
Proposed plans, programs and projects that use bacteria to support food, health, environmental and agricultural sustainability were also reviewed, which contributes to enhancing the research and applied role of the Department of Medical Physics in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The College of science emphasizes its continued support for scientific and training activities that promote scientific research and innovation, wishing all participants continued progress and success in their academic and professional careers.
