College of Science

Under the patronage of the president of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and under the supervision of the dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim al – Taie, and in cooperation with the presidency of the University of Mosul-Department of studies and Planning /Sustainable Development Unit. The Department of new and renewable energies at the College of science organized a scientific workshop entitled ” from metal and non-metal toxins to disease, the journey of toxic compounds inside living organisms”.

The workshop was held on Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025 at the Avicenna Hall in the Department.

The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. lowai Abdul Ali al Hilali, Assistant Prof. Thana Yacoub Youssef and Prof. Dr. Sakina Hussein Rashid.

The workshop included knowledge of metal and non-metal poisons and their classifications, as well as methods of transmission, chemical and physical properties of Toxic Substances of various kinds, factors affecting toxic compounds, and then how toxic chemical compounds enter the organism, the mechanics and reactions of various toxic chemical compounds to disease events, as well as a summary of the body’s defenses against toxins of all kinds, and then the antidote (antitoxin) action, types and mechanics of its action after the arrival of metal and non-metal toxic compounds to the body.
