His doctoral thesis investigates the hydrothermal synthesis of oxide nanorods for environmental applications

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Department of physics at the College of Science / University of Mosul discussed the dissertation of the doctor tagged ” hydrothermal synthesis of kharsin oxide nanorods for environmental applications: the impact of growth parameters”, submitted by the student Rahma Nazir thenon, in the presence of the dean of the College of science, professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, administrative assistant, the head of the department, a number of department teachers and graduate students.

The thesis dealt with the development of a practical quantitative framework for the manufacture of high-efficiency oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs), based on a hybrid manufacturing strategy that begins with the preparation of thin seed layers by chemical vapor deposition technology, followed by the growth phase by hydrothermal synthesis. The thesis systematically studied the effect of three main growth parameters-the thickness of the seed layer, the concentration of chemical precursors, and the pH of the reactive medium, through an integrated physicochemical characterization using advanced analytical techniques. The results have demonstrated outstanding photocatalytic efficiency in water treatment applications, contributing to the development of sustainable nanosolutions to address environmental pollution.

The discussion committee consisted of:

Prof. Dr. Mazen Ahmed Abdul Ghazal (chairman)،
Assistant professor Dr. Marwan Zuhair Elias (member)،
Assistant professor Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail (member)،
Associate professor Dr. Iyad giad zarghis (member)،
Assistant professor Dr. Nasih Hama Gharib (member)،
Assistant professor Dr. Samir Mahmoud (member and supervisor)،
Assistant professor Dr. Yasser Hussein (member and supervisor).
At the end of the discussion session, the dean of the college presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to assistant professor Dr. Nasih Hama Gharib / Salah al-Din University / College of Science, in appreciation of his scientific participation in the discussion.

Our wishes to our students and our professors for their continuous giving and service to the scientific career.
