Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Kossay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmady, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Biology, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Salem Al-Saffar, and within the continuing education courses, the tagged training course was concluded today, Thursday, May 19, 2022. Methods for determining the biological activity of active chemical compounds” gave lectures and practical applications a. Dr. Adiba Younes Sharif and Dr. Sahar Salem Boutros and Dr. Zahraa Khair El Din and Lect. Hazem Negm’s longings, in the presence of the Microbiology Laboratory. The activities of the first day included: giving theoretical lectures on antibiotics, their most important characteristics and mechanisms of effect on bacterial cells and ways to resist them by bacteria, with reference to the reports and recommendations of the World Health Organization regarding awareness of how to use them optimally. Practical lectures were also given, which included the practical basis for the method of antibiotic susceptibility testing, as well as how to measure the biological effectiveness of chemicals. As for the activities of the second day: it included conducting a sensitivity test for different types of antibiotics using the tablets method (Kerby-Power method), as well as measuring the biological activity of chemicals using the tablets and tubes method. The course was attended by the head of the department and a number of the department’s teachers. With our best wishes to all our members further progress.
