In accordance with the directives of the dean of the college of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Al-Taii, under the supervision of the head department, Dr. Zeid Abdul Wahab Malik, organized a scientific trip and a field visit for graduate students master’s and PhD students to several areas in erbil and rawandouz accompanied by a number of lecturers of the department (Dr. Rafii Ibrahim al-hamdani, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Haq al-sumaidai, Dr. Ahmed nazir alzanoun and dr. Radwan al-atrushi).The students were introduced to many geological formations and from the latest revealed formation, namely the formation of the meqdadiya and the end of the oldest of the two formations they reached, the formation of parserin, which dates back to the jurassic period, and most of the sedimentary compositions were seen and the synthetic manifestations revealed there, and the field travel began from the range of low folds represented by my ducks with mistress and inverted through the range of high folds and the limits of the range of crawling starting from the fold of aqra and birat and the end of the zuzk fold.Many important geological sites have also been visited with the aim of increasing the efficiency and experience of graduate students in our department and to develop the sober geological thought of our students, because of the close link between the theoretical and practical aspect of iraq’s geology and the reputation of our university of mosul in this field.
