Scientific Field Trip by the Department of Geology
On Thursday, November 2, 2023, a scientific field trip for the second year students of the Geology department was organized to the governorate of Duhok.
Under the direct supervision of the dean of the college Dr. Hiyam Adil Ibrahem and the follow-up of the head of the department of Geology, Dr. Omar Ahmed Moloud, a group of professors & students from the second year went on a scientific trip to selected places in Duhok suburbs such as Fatha, Blasby, Afana, Al-Jirkas, Khurmala, Kuloush, Sharanesh and Bakhma formation.
This trip aimed to give the students a comprehensive explanation of the geological formations that are exposed within the folds of the mentioned zones. Also, the professor described comprehensively the nature of the clastic and carbonate rocks that form these formations and how to distinguish between them.
