Vision, Mission, and Goals of the Department of New and Renewable Energies

Vision
Study of new and renewable energy types and the preparation of an educated generation with renewable energy culture, ready to use it as the foundation for most of the energy in society. This is achieved through providing an academic program and supplying the community with distinguished graduates capable of dealing with the changes and developments occurring in the world, contributing to the development of scientific, health, industrial, and environmental institutions, and solving the problems hindering their progress.

Mission
The Department of New and Renewable Energies aims to create a generation capable of keeping up with the advancement and development of basic sciences and their various applications, and utilizing nature to produce green energy. This is achieved through:

  • Preparing specialized cadres in energy sciences and applications, and qualifying graduates specialized in energy fields, familiar with the theoretical foundations of energy sciences and their field applications, to work in scientific, research, educational, and industrial centers.
  • Equipping students with educational skills by studying different types of renewable energies.
  • Increasing community awareness of the benefits of renewable energy.
  • Deepening national loyalty and maintaining societal principles and noble human values.

Goals
The department aims to introduce students to the types of green and clean energy, which are alternatives to traditional energy. These include solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy, hydroelectric energy, and geothermal energy. The department seeks to achieve the following objectives to reach national classification:

First: General Objectives:

  • Keep pace with global advancements in all scientific fields related to energy and renewable energies.
  • Provide the community and government institutions with scientific and technical expertise in the field of energy sciences and renewable energies, and develop their scientific, health, and environmental institutions.
  • Raise the level of performance and quality to the standards of advanced global universities.

Second: Educational Objectives:

  • Develop and update theoretical and practical scientific curricula.
  • Develop scientific competencies and performance for both faculty members and students.

Third: Research Objectives:

  • Find alternatives to traditional energy and replace it with clean energy.
  • Invest in energy and sustainable development research to develop scientific, health, industrial, and environmental institutions.
  • Work on addressing energy-related issues in Iraq and find suitable solutions to obtain green energy at minimal costs.

Fourth: Community Service Objectives:

  • Support community activities by holding seminars, workshops, and scientific courses related to energy and renewable energies.
  • Expand public awareness related to the importance of energy and renewable energies in solving many health, environmental, and industrial issues to uplift society.

Fifth: Student Activity Objectives:

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support student activities, including cultural, social, sports, and artistic events.
  • Knowledge and cultural exchange with other local and global universities.
  • Organize a scientific conference for graduation projects and honor outstanding students.
  • Ability to communicate constructively.
