Department of Forensic Evidence – Overview of the Department
The Forensic Evidence Department at the University of Mosul was established in 2023.
Forensic science is one of the branches of modern sciences, and it is a vast field of knowledge that forms the foundation of criminal sciences applied in various aspects of life. It also serves as the solid foundation for modern health sciences and plays a crucial role in solving crimes and ensuring justice. For this reason, forensic science has gained significant importance among scientific disciplines, expanding its reach to internal security, defense, health, and laboratory analyses.
The Forensic Evidence Department has adopted a well-structured academic program that aligns with its counterparts worldwide, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects of forensic evidence studies. The department aims to continually update its curricula. The duration of undergraduate study in the department is four years, starting from the admission of first-year students based on their high school performance, leading up to the graduation of students who earn a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Evidence.
Recognizing the university’s role in preparing specialized professionals in the field of forensic evidence, and aiming to achieve the highest levels of knowledge and advancement for individuals and society, the department envisions complementing the mission and objectives of the College of Sciences, serving the Iraqi community, and constantly interacting with advancements in the field of knowledge. It is dedicated to nurturing diligent minds and translating ideas from academic fields into practical applications, addressing the challenges faced by our beloved country.
