A training course at the College of science on professional ethics and scientific promotion instructions

Under the auspices of the president of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and under the supervision of the dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Department of studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, The Human Rights Unit, the scientific promotions committee, and the women’s Affairs Unit at the university presidency, organized a training course entitled ” professional ethics and instructions for scientific promotion” :

  • Prof. Dr. Zaid Abdul Wahab / head of the scientific Promotions Division .
  • Assistant L. Aline Moufak Khalil / official of the women’s Affairs Committee .
  • Assistant L. Salah Afdou Ali / head of the human rights unit .

The course aimed to clarify the instructions for scientific promotion and explain the bases and criteria adopted in the tables allocated for this, while indicating the research and scientific requirements that must be met by the teaching staff at various stages of promotion.

It also addressed the mechanisms for evaluating scientific activities, publication conditions, research sobriety, teaching and administrative activities involved in calculating promotion points.

The course also touched upon the concepts of professional ethics and its basic principles, and its role in enhancing individual and institutional performance, while emphasizing commitment to high professional values such as integrity, honesty, sincerity and cooperation.

The organization of this course is related to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the fourth goal (quality education) by enhancing the efficiency of teachers and raising awareness of academic education, the sixteenth goal (peace, justice and strong institutions) by consolidating the principles of integrity and professional ethics within the university environment, and the fifth goal (gender equality) by supporting the role of academic women and enabling their participation in training and development programs.

At the end of the session, the college confirmed its continuation in organizing such events that contribute to the development of academic capabilities and enhance professional ethics, wishing its members continued success, and our dear college and our esteemed university more scientific excellence and institutional advancement.
