College of Science Team Qualifies for Advanced Stages of the University of Mosul Futsal League
The College of Science futsal team has qualified for the final stages after a valuable 5–0 victory over the College of Medicine. Our heroic players delivered an outstanding performance that was well received by the audience. With this win, along with their previous victory over the College of Administration and Economics, our team is now among the six colleges competing in the final round of the University of Mosul Futsal League.
We extend our best wishes to our champion players for achieving the title and raising the name of the College of Science high in both internal and external arenas.
Chess Championship
Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and as part of our college’s efforts—represented by the esteemed Dean, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim—to invest in students’ athletic talents, a select group of students from our college participated in the Chess Championship organized by the Department of Student Activities for University of Mosul students.
The College of Science team secured sixth place out of 23 participating colleges in the championship.
The College of Science, represented by the Dean, extends its deep gratitude and appreciation to the Student Activities Division of our beloved college for their dedicated efforts. She also praised the outstanding contributions of our students, not only in academics and knowledge but also in their excellence in sports and the arts.
The Scout Camp for College of Science Students
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Student Activities Division of our college, in cooperation with the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, organized the Scout Camp for the college students on the morning of Monday, March 13, 2023.
The camp included various scouting competitions and sports activities among the students to promote a spirit of cooperation, develop their mental abilities, and encourage teamwork and collective performance.
Table Tennis Championship for College of Science Students
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Student Activities Division of our college organized the Table Tennis Championship on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, with the participation of our dear students and following the single-elimination system.
The final results concluded with student Abdulrahman Majid from the Department of Biology winning first place. He also secured eighth place at the level of all University of Mosul colleges. The second place went to student Abdulwahab Mohammed from the Department of Chemistry, while third place was claimed by student Abdulaziz Moataz, also from the Department of Chemistry.
At the end of the championship, prizes were distributed to the participating students, and the Dean of the College praised the efforts made to organize such tournaments for our esteemed students.
Extensive Cleaning Campaign for the College of Science Departments and Student Center Gardens
Under the slogan “Our Environment – Our Home”, and with the supervision and participation of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and in cooperation with the volunteers of the “Cleanliness Ambassadors” campaign, along with the participation of the Science Creativity Team, the College of Science organized a cleaning campaign for its departments and the gardens of the student center.
The campaign aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of environmental cleanliness and disposing of waste in designated areas, based on the idea that the university is our second home and that maintaining its cleanliness is a shared responsibility.
The Dean of the College expressed her appreciation for the commendable efforts and high spirit demonstrated by the participants, recognizing their strong sense of responsibility toward preserving the college and university as a clean environment that contributes to reflecting a positive image in society.
College of Science Achieves Top Ranks in the Creative Arts Competition
With the support of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and her encouragement of artistic activities, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Sports Activities Division in the college, represented by Lecturer Mohammed Sharqi Hadi and Mr. Imad Tahseen Ibrahim,
The College of Science participated in the Creative Arts Exhibition for students and staff of the University of Mosul, organized by the Artistic Activities Division in the Student Activities Department of the University of Mosul. The exhibition was held at the Hall and Museum of Fine Arts in the Student Center building on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
The College of Science earned top rankings in three categories of the competition in ornamentation and drawing, as follows:
– Student Tabarak Sabah from the Department of Chemistry won first place at the university level for her ornamentation work.
– Student Maryam Najm Ahmed, also from the Department of Chemistry, received joint first place for her charcoal drawing.
– Student Osama Sari earned second place for his ornamentation work.
Dean Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim congratulated the students on this remarkable achievement, wishing them continued progress and creativity. She also expressed her gratitude for the dedicated efforts of the Sports Activities Division, which works sincerely to distinguish the college in all activities.
Active Participation of the College of Science in University Day Sports and Arts Activities
Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and with direct supervision from the Student Activities Division, the faculty and students of the college had a strong and impactful presence during the 54th anniversary of the University’s founding, held on April 1, 2021. This was evident through their active involvement in the sports and artistic events organized by the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University of Mosul.
Mr. Imad Tahseen, Head of the Sports Unit in the College, participated in the symbolic torch relay from Al-Sharqiya High School to mark the start of the university marathon, in which several students from the college took part. As a result of their participation, student Zeina Salim secured eighth place and student Rahma Khalil tenth place among female competitors at the university level.
In the table tennis competition, student Shehab Bassam achieved third place university-wide. Additionally, a number of students showcased creative works in the art exhibition.
In recognition of the students’ contributions to these activities, they were honored by the Student Activities Division of the college. The Dean also expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the division and for the outstanding participation of the college’s students, wishing them continued excellence and dedication for the prosperity of our beloved college.

The Guidance Unit at our college, in cooperation with the University’s Directorate of Dormitories, has launched an initiative to provide meal cards to our college’s dormitory students throughout the academic year, supplied by the University of Mosul Student Center.
This initiative is part of a series of annual efforts organized by our esteemed university to support dormitory students, check on their well-being, alleviate their burdens, and overcome the difficulties they may face.
Conclusion of the Volleyball Championship
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Student Activities Division at the College of Science held the final volleyball match on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The match concluded with the Chemistry Department team winning against the Earth Sciences Department team with two sets to one in a spirited and competitive game from both sides.
At the end of the match, awards were distributed and our dear students were honored. The Dean of the College expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in organizing these activities for the students, wishing them continued progress and success.
Blood Donation
A Blood Donation Campaign for Thalassemia Patients and Others with Hematological Diseases
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: “And whoever saves one life—it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
A group of faculty members and students from our college participated in the campaign, driven by their belief in teamwork and their active contribution to spreading the values of love, cooperation, and solidarity.
The campaign aimed to support the blood bank’s reserves and to promote the spirit of giving, social responsibility, and the culture of charitable work.
The donated blood and its derivatives are allocated to assist various patients, especially critical cases.
The campaign witnessed a high turnout from our college members, who volunteered to donate their blood willingly.
Violence Against Women
The College of Science Organizes an Awareness Campaign as Part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Science organized an awareness campaign on Thursday, November 28, 2024, as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The campaign included the participation of a number of the college’s students.
This campaign aimed to raise awareness about the issue of societal violence against women and to emphasize the importance of building a future free from all forms of violence against women. It also sought to enhance community awareness of the magnitude of the problems women face around the world today.
This campaign is part of a series of cultural activities organized by the College of Science at the University of Mosul, directly linked to public health and societal well-being. It reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to community service and raising awareness on the importance of a violence-free future for women.

Participation of the Mosul Science Astronomy Team from the College of Science in an Astronomical Evening
As part of the activities of the College of Science, and in line with the directives of the respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Al-Taie, and in cooperation with the Scientific Care Department / Ministry of Youth,
The Mosul Science Astronomy Team from the University of Mosul – College of Science participated on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in an astronomical evening using the College’s telescope, hosted in the gardens of Al-Noor University College, along with several astronomy teams from Nineveh Governorate.
During the evening, observations of the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter were conducted, accompanied by lectures highlighting the importance of astronomy, types of terrestrial and space telescopes, and the significance of astronomy in Islam.

Our Heroes of Determination at the College of Science
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, welcomed a group of students with determination and special abilities to her office. The meeting was attended by members of the college’s Volunteer Work Committee.
The meeting aimed to discuss mechanisms for organizing joint training workshops targeting student groups in order to create an inclusive environment for people of determination within the community. It also sought to understand their needs, provide the necessary support for their academic success, and empower them to play their essential role in both education and public life.

As part of the ongoing collaboration between the University of Mosul and the Nineveh Directorate of Education—and in line with the University’s vision guided by the directives of the respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim—the College of Science has welcomed numerous visits from both public and private schools.
These visits aim to nurture students’ future talents and provide them with the opportunity to explore the laboratory environment and observe the scientific skills of university students in action.
Visit to the Female Dormitories
The College of Science Organizes a Field Visit to the Female Dormitories
In accordance with the directives of the respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, regarding the need to monitor the welfare of students and address their needs in the dormitories, the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, along with the head of the College’s Guidance Committee, Dr. Irada Abdulkhaleq Al-Dabbagh, and several respected faculty members, visited the female dormitories at the University of Mosul.
The visit aimed to check on the well-being of the female students, ensure their academic and living conditions, and provide moral support for them throughout the academic year. Encouraging words were shared with the students to motivate them to put forth more effort and achieve the best results in their academic journey.
This visit reflects the College of Science’s commitment to supporting and caring for its female students, not only academically but also personally.
Advisory Meeting
Advisory Meeting with First-Year Students at the Beginning of the Academic Year 2024-2025
With the start of the new academic year 2024-2025, and under the direction of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the respected Head of the Department of Earth Sciences, Prof. Dr. Omar Ahmed Mulood Al-Badrani, met with the first-year students on Sunday, December 1, 2024. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saddam Issa Mustafa, the department secretary, and Dr. Rania Abdulilah Mahmoud, the head of the Educational Guidance Unit in the department.
The meeting began with the Head of the Department congratulating the students on the start of their academic journey at the university, emphasizing the importance of this stage as a crucial turning point in their academic and professional lives. He also stressed the importance of adhering to the official attendance schedule and continuously following up on their courses to ensure academic excellence and success. During the meeting, students were encouraged to take care of public property and were given the opportunity to voice their opinions and suggestions regarding any challenges they may face during the academic year, aiming to address these challenges and ensure a smooth and successful learning process.
Additionally, an awareness and guidance session was held for the first-year students in the department’s gardens, which clarified the university professor’s role in the guidance process, alongside the development of student independence. The session also included a discussion on the academic challenges students may encounter.
Awareness Lecture titled “Science and Morality are Twin and Not Separate”
Under the Patronage of the Respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the Supervision of the Esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and as part of the College’s awareness and educational activities, the College’s Guidance Committee, in collaboration with the Sunni Endowment Directorate in Nineveh, organized an awareness and educational lecture on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the auditorium of Prof. Dr. Farouk Al-Omari.
The lecture was titled “Science and Morality are Twin and Not Separate”.
The first speaker was Sheikh Engineer Ali Osama from the Sunni Endowment Directorate. He provided an overview of this project, which began two years ago, in close collaboration with the Nineveh Health Directorate and the Nineveh Directorate of Education. The project aims to warn youth about the conspiracies being orchestrated against them through the promotion of ideas and behaviors that harm their psychological, physical, and moral well-being. The project has achieved remarkable success through conducting hundreds of visits to schools, institutes, and universities, delivering lectures and workshops on this critical and important issue.
Thalassemia Workshop + Visit to the Thalassemia Center
Faculty Members of the College of Science Visit the Thalassemia Center
The Guidance Unit at our college, along with a group of faculty members from the College of Science departments, organized a visit to the Thalassemia Center at Ibn Al-Atheer Hospital – Nineveh Health Department.
During the visit, we engaged with the children at the center and their families, instilling a sense of hope and optimism while encouraging them to continue their treatment and follow up with the center. Accompanying the faculty members was the center’s director, Dr. (Madin Mohammed Fawzi), whose dedicated efforts, along with his medical team, are vital in caring for and following up with the patients, despite the many challenges and difficulties they face.
The College of Science Hosts an Awareness and Educational Lecture titled “Be Aware”
Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and within the framework of enhancing intellectual awareness and mental safety among students in Nineveh governorate universities and shielding them from foreign and deviant ideas, the Nineveh Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism launched its awareness and cultural program titled “Be Aware” with the slogan “Awareness is the Foundation of Knowledge.”
On Monday, December 16, 2024, the College of Science at the University of Mosul hosted an awareness and educational lecture titled “Be Aware” in the hall of the late Prof. Dr. Farouk Al-Omari. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ahmad Akram Al-Habib, Head of the Intellectual Safety and Security Unit at the Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism, Nineveh.
The lecture discussed the importance of instilling intellectual awareness among university students and the destructive effects and risks of intellectual deviation on national security, such as inciting strife, misinformation, misleading youth and the younger generation, and weak family oversight as an entry point for intellectual exploitation. It also highlighted the role of students in confronting deviant ideas that could negatively impact the academic community.
Furthermore, the lecture emphasized the importance of cultivating an enlightened mindset capable of distinguishing between constructive and destructive ideas. The “Be Aware” program aims to enhance intellectual awareness among university students, contributing to the establishment of a strong academic community protected from negative influences.
At the conclusion of the lecture, the esteemed Dean of the College presented certificates of appreciation to the organizers of the lecture and expressed her gratitude to the Nineveh Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism, represented by its Director General and the contributors to delivering such lectures and training courses. She reaffirmed the College’s and the University’s commitment to further collaborative efforts in all activities and events.
