Sustainability
To promote sustainable transportation, the College of Science at the University of Mosul has inaugurated its first vehicle powered by solar and electric energy. The vehicle can recharge using solar power while in motion and has been specifically designated to transport our students with special needs, providing them with a convenient means of transportation within the university and creating an inclusive campus environment suitable for them.
A number of eco-friendly lighting poles powered by solar energy have been installed in the departments of the College, in accordance with the requirements of sustainable development. These poles are equipped with three wireless charging ports with a power of 40 watts, three fast charging ports (Type-C), and three USB3 charging ports.

Based on the Principle Inspired by the Qur’anic Verse “And whoever saves a life, it is as if he had saved all of mankind”
And in accordance with the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Naeem Yasser Al-Abboudi, and with the blessed follow-up of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the generous supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim Al-Tai,
The College of Science took part today, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the Iraqi National Afforestation Day. The college organized extensive afforestation campaigns that were skillfully carried out by the staff and students of our college—purifying the air, reviving every blessed land, and adding beauty embraced by the world. Every plant sown today is the beginning of a life for the entire world.
Departments of the College of Science Participate in National Afforestation Day
In conjunction with National Afforestation Day, the beloved departments of our college took the initiative to launch a wide-scale tree-planting campaign in the department gardens, featuring saplings of trees and plants from various species.
This day serves as a valuable opportunity to renew our commitment to the importance of trees and vegetation cover for our planet. Trees play a vital role in purifying the air from harmful gases and providing the oxygen necessary for life. They also help improve soil quality, preserve water, and offer shelter to a wide range of living organisms.
On this World Afforestation Day, we call on everyone to contribute to tree planting and to work toward protecting forests and natural areas.
