Main Tasks of the Department of Science and Technology Parks

The Department of Science and Technology Parks is considered the link between the university, the labor market, and the industrial sector, and a fundamental driver of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The department’s tasks are distributed within an integrated strategic framework as follows:

First: General Tasks of the Department

  • Planning and implementing programs and initiatives that contribute to enhancing the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the university.
  • Supporting the process of technology transfer from the university to society and industry by adopting research ideas and transforming them into products or services that are commercially applicable.
  • Incubating startup companies and entrepreneurial projects and providing them with technical, administrative, and logistical support within an integrated innovation environment.
  • Enhancing scientific and economic cooperation between the university, government institutions, the private sector, and international organizations in the fields of research, development, and innovation.
  • Contributing to building a sustainable knowledge economy by developing initiatives that help create quality job opportunities and support knowledge-based projects.
  • Organizing scientific and technological events, conferences, and exhibitions that highlight the university’s outputs and contribute to the exchange of expertise and innovations.
  • Supervising the department’s divisions and the integration of their tasks in a way that ensures achieving the university’s strategic goals in the fields of qualification, innovation, scientific marketing, and entrepreneurship.

Second: Tasks of the Divisions Affiliated with the Department

Qualification and Employment Division

  • Organizing workshops and training courses to develop specialized skills, electronic management skills, decision-making, and leadership abilities for students and graduates.
  • Providing professional consultations to students, following up on graduates, and analyzing their employment outcomes.
  • Creating a database of graduates and employers and organizing job fairs and professional networking events.
  • Implementing the National Strategy for Education and Higher Education (2021–2031) within the axes of qualification, employment, and follow-up.
  • Activating partnerships with government departments and non-governmental organizations to provide job opportunities and qualification courses.

Technological Incubator and Ecosystem Division

  • Incubating innovative ideas and entrepreneurial projects and transforming them into implementable startup companies.
  • Providing technical support and consultations in the fields of management, marketing, and financing for incubated projects.
  • Preparing an integrated work environment that contributes to developing the innovation ecosystem inside the university.

Scientific Output Marketing Division

  • Documenting and marketing the university’s research and scientific outputs and linking them to the needs of industry and society.
  • Developing mechanisms for protecting intellectual property and registering patents and promoting them.
  • Organizing scientific exhibitions and promotional campaigns for innovative products resulting from university research.

Entrepreneurship Division

  • Establishing the culture of entrepreneurship among students and faculty members and encouraging them to create entrepreneurial projects.
  • Designing training programs and developmental initiatives that enhance the spirit of initiative and creativity.
  • Building local and international networking channels to support university entrepreneurs and facilitate their access to markets.
