The Director of the Peacebuilding and Coexistence Center Visits the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research .

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Fathi Mohammed Fathi Al-Hayani, Director of the Peacebuilding and Coexistence Center, accompanied by a number of faculty members, visited the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research. They were received by Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Al-Taweel, Director of the Center. The visit came within the framework of strengthening scientific and community-based cooperation between research and development institutions, during which the delegation was introduced to the Center’s key research projects in the fields of sustainable agriculture and climate change adaptation.

Both parties emphasized the importance of utilizing agricultural research outputs to support social stability and improve livelihoods, particularly in regions affected by environmental and economic challenges. Furthermore, opportunities for future collaboration were discussed through the implementation of training programs and workshops aimed at promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence and enhancing food security.

The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Peacebuilding and Coexistence Center and the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research by leveraging research expertise. It also sought to explore ways of employing agricultural innovation to improve livelihoods, enhance food security, and develop joint programs that integrate sustainable development with the promotion of peaceful coexistence in areas affected by environmental and economic challenges.

This visit aligns clearly with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting an integrated environmental, social, and economic dimension, as follows:

  • Goal 1 (No Poverty): by supporting local livelihoods through the development of sustainable agriculture and improved productivity.

  • Goal 2 (Zero Hunger): by enhancing food security and adopting dryland and conservation agriculture techniques that increase production efficiency in challenging environments.

  • Goal 13 (Climate Action): through promoting research on climate change adaptation and sustainable natural resource management.

  • Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions): by fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence and enhancing community stability, particularly in conflict-affected areas.

  • Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): as the visit highlights the importance of cooperation between research and development institutions for knowledge exchange and joint initiatives.

Thus, this visit represents a practical model for linking scientific research with community development, achieving sustainable impact at both local and national levels.
