Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research (C.AFCAR) Begins Planning a Wheat Genetic Line Multiplication Campaign.

On Monday, 12 October 2026, AFCAR Center began planning a campaign to cultivate the wheat genetic lines maintained by the Center, with the aim of producing high-grade seeds in quantities sufficient to disseminate these genetic lines among farmers’ fields across Nineveh Governorate during the upcoming growing season.
The campaign commenced with the selection of fields free from weed plants and off-type varieties to ensure the cultivation of the approved genetic lines. The Center’s Genetic Resources Laboratory tested the germination rates of the seeds before planting to ensure that their laboratory germination percentages met the internationally recognized standards for the crop.
This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
