The Concept of Archaeological Entrepreneurship in a Lecture

As part of the National Entrepreneurship Day program, the College of Archaeology’s Entrepreneurship Unit held an introductory lecture entitled “The Entrepreneurship Unit / The Concept of Archaeological Entrepreneurship” on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The lecture, presented by Dr. Ghassan Mardan Hajji, defined archaeological entrepreneurship as a scientific and developmental approach that seeks to employ archaeological knowledge in innovative and modern ways to transform cultural heritage from a mere historical legacy into a sustainable cultural and economic resource that serves society and strengthens national identity. This entrepreneurship aims to foster innovation in the presentation and preservation of antiquities, link academic research to community needs, establish specialized training workshops, organize competitions for archaeological entrepreneurial projects, build partnerships with cultural and tourism institutions, encourage students to transform their ideas into applicable development projects, raise awareness of the importance of protecting cultural heritage from extinction, integrate modern digital technologies in archaeological documentation and 3D surveying and modeling, and develop innovative and new projects for the preservation and maintenance of archaeological sites.
