Mosul University’s Committee for Combating Violent Extremism Holds Its First Meeting

 

The Central Committee at the University of Mosul, which is responsible for implementing the strategic plan to combat violent extremism leading to terrorism, held its first meeting for the academic year 2025/2026 on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Arts, and was attended by committee members Dr. Saeed Khadida Qolo and Mr. Mohammed Mohammed Haider.

The meeting discussed a comprehensive action plan for the current academic year, which included organizing workshops and scientific seminars, launching awareness campaigns and training courses to instill a culture of moderation and dialogue, and rejecting hate speech among university students and the academic community.

The committee also discussed prospects for cooperation with government institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations to enhance the plan’s effectiveness and achieve a broad impact in confronting violent extremism.
