A Ph.D. dissertation at the Department of Translation (Translation and Commentary of Symbolism in Arabic Literary Texts into English).
he Department of Translation/College of Arts/University of Mosul discussed a Ph.D. dissertation titled (Translation and Commentary of Symbolism in Arabic Literary Texts into English), on the17th of October 2024, in the Ibn Al-Atheer Hall.
The discussion was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Mohamed Afeen, The Dean of the College, a number of Members of the Faculty of the college and the department, as well as the postgraduate students.
The study, submitted by Sara Saad Ahmed, aims to specify, describe, and analyze Appraisal resources in English political texts and their renditions into Arabic texts by comparing and contrasting them based on Martin and White’s Appraisal Theory (2005). This study focuses on shifts of Appraisal that occur through translation and the reasons behind making such shifts.
