A higher diploma thesis in peacebuilding studies at the College of Arts at the University of Mosul on: (Hate speech and its impact on the peacebuilding process in contemporary Iraqi society – a survey study from the point of view of a sample of Mosul University professors.
The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts discussed the higher diploma thesis in peacebuilding studies entitled: (Hate speech and its impact on the peacebuilding process in contemporary Iraqi society – a survey study from the point of view of a sample of Mosul University professors), on Monday, November 4th, 2024, with the attendance of a number of the department’s instructors and a number of postgraduate students.
The study, submitted by Ruwa Zuhair Muhammad, dealt with the topic of hate speech, which has become sweeping most societies in the world today. This toxic discourse with all its contents has infiltrated the majority of societies and individuals through the media and social networking sites, which has posed a real threat to the foundations of peaceful coexistence between the societal components of any society in any country, especially with regard to some minorities, ethnic groups and immigrants. The researcher chose a sample of Mosul University professors to survey their opinions on the extent and causes of the spread of this type of discourse, as well as the means and methods of reducing it.
