Discussion of the Thesis on “A Multi-Critical Discourse Analysis of Children’s Short Stories”

The Department of English Language at the College of Arts held a discussion on the thesis “A Multi-Critical Discourse Analysis of Children’s Short Stories” on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Part of the session was attended by Professor Dr. Hatim Fahd Hano, Dean of the College, along with several faculty members.
The study, presented by student Sufana Ayad Hussein from the Department of English, focused on increasing awareness and interest in children’s literature due to its significant impact on child development.
The study aimed to analyze short stories using a multi-critical discourse analysis approach. It also compared writing styles, taking into consideration the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the authors. Additionally, the study explored how short stories are understood through images alone and investigated the effect of these images on children across different age groups.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Nihad Ahmed from the College of Arts, University of Mosul, with the following members:
