Master’s Thesis on “The Reality of the Educational Institution and Its Role in Promoting Social Cohesion”

The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a master’s thesis defense on Monday, May 5, 2025, for a thesis titled “The Reality of the Educational Institution and Its Role in Promoting Social Cohesion.” The session was attended in part by Professor Dr. Hatim Fahd Al-Taie, Dean of the College, along with several faculty members.

The thesis, presented by student Mohammed Ibrahim Khalaf from the Department of Sociology, focused on highlighting the role of educational institutions in strengthening social cohesion within society—particularly in communities marked by cultural and religious diversity.

The study aims to explore the current state of educational institutions and their multifaceted role in reinforcing social cohesion. It also seeks to identify the obstacles that hinder the educational institution’s effectiveness in this role. The research emphasizes that the educational institution is one of the most vital agents of socialization, playing a central role in shaping social identity and fostering unity.
