Scholarly Contribution from the Oriental Studies Unit to a Scientific Symposium

Dr. Maysoon Dhanoun, a faculty member from the Oriental Studies Unit, College of Arts, participated in the 65th scientific symposium organized by the Mosul Studies Center. This event, held in collaboration with the Presidency of the University of Mosul / Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, was titled “Sustainable Development in the City of Mosul: Present Horizons and Future Challenges.” The symposium took place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
During the symposium, Dr. Dhanoun presented a research paper entitled “Mosul’s Overland Routes in the Early Islamic Eras and Their Sustainability in the Present Day.” Her research highlighted the critical importance of Mosul’s historical road infrastructure and its role in supporting contemporary sustainable development paradigms.
This participation underscores the ongoing commitment to illuminating the historical and developmental facets of the city of Mosul, alongside exploring avenues for leveraging these aspects to serve the city’s present and future prosperity.
