Department of History Organizes Diverse Activities on the Importance of Afforestation

The Department of History at the College of Arts organized a discussion panel and a field lecture titled “The Importance of Afforestation in Islamic Civilization,” with the participation of a number of the department’s faculty members and the attendance of first-year undergraduate and master’s students.
The event commenced with a discussion panel that delved into the historical, religious, and environmental aspects of afforestation in Islamic civilization. Lecturers offered scholarly insights into the role of trees in Islamic urban planning and their significance in maintaining ecological balance, presenting evidence from historical Islamic cities.
The discussion panel was followed by a field lecture held at an environmental site near the college, delivered by the Head of the History Department, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Salih Saeed, and the rapporteur of the department, Dr. Ammar Manhal. During this session, the concepts of afforestation were clarified from a practical perspective, emphasizing the importance of reinstating sound environmental practices in confronting contemporary environmental challenges.
This activity is part of a series of scientific events organized by the Department of History to enhance environmental awareness and connect civilizational aspects with current challenges.
