PhD Dissertation on Societal Challenges and Their Impact on Job Performance in the Iraqi Youth and Sports Sector

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a defense for a PhD dissertation titled “Societal Challenges and Their Impact on the Job Performance of Workers in the Iraqi Youth and Sports Sector: A Field Study in Mosul City.” The defense was attended by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Firas Abbas Fadil, Head of the Department, and several faculty members.

The study, presented by Omar Hussein Shams Al-Din, a student in the Sociology Department, examined the most prominent societal challenges and their implications for the job performance of individuals working in Iraq’s youth and sports sector, with a specific focus on Mosul city.

The dissertation aimed to uncover the key societal challenges and their repercussions on the professional output of employees within the youth and sports sector in Iraq, as explored through a field study conducted in Mosul.
